is basically a nuke that does around 300,000, with crits over 600,000 damage and has a cooldown of 30 seconds. If your targets dies within 15 seconds the cooldown gets reset. It will also amplify the damage you deal to the target by 30% while the debuff is active (15 seconds).
stacks up to 20 instead of 10. This makes it even more important not to let it fall off.
: Amplifies your dots on the target by 70% while draining.
Your clear choice in this row is
for single target, and
has a few niche places with high end Mythic +.
has very little use in the current affliction gameplay.
increases all damage you deal to the target by 15%.
is now permanent and deals 25% more damage.
:Your lifetap now increases the damage you deal by 10% for 20 seconds.
For single-target you can choose either
. The main decider is what you take in tier 100,
lends itself more to
is also extremely strong for multi dotting because it’s a “hit it one and done” ability.
has some really niche uses in low level content or when doing really heavy aoe things like Maw +7-9 runs, but other than that its just not nearly as strong as the other two.
lets you place a circle that allows you to teleport to the same location again.
: Horrifies the enemy and heals you for 20% of your maximum health.
: Fears 5 targets within 10 yards for 20 seconds. Damage on these targets cancels the effect.
is the clear winner of this tier.
can be used to proc
does not share the DR with stuns, so both have uses in Mythic+, with
much more so than any. Note: Nether will proc
if the target was immune to the fear / horror effect.
is an additional dot that does ~123,000 damage and heals you for 100% of the damage dealt. Its approximately 5% lower than
pre-artifact in total damage.
uses it to embed 2 additional seeds to nearby enemies, 3 total.
is a cooldown that increases you and your pets damage by 20%. The baseline duration is 15 seconds and each target effected by
will gain you 2 seconds more, up to 35 seconds. It's really important that
is applied on the targets before you use
otherwise it doesn't gain the 2 extra seconds.
Single-target and multi-target
is the clear winner. In heavy AoE-fights (10+ stacked targets)
is the winner. In the first two raids of legion there are no fights that meet this requirement.
shield by 1% every second.
sacrifices 4% of your health every minute and in exchange you gain 50% movement speed. While
is active you can't be slower than 100% of your normal movement speed.
sacrifices 20% of your demons or your health if you have no demon and grants you a 400% shield of the sacrificed health for 20 seconds. Its cooldown is 1 minute.
This row completely depends on you and what your encounter demands.
Гримуар верховной власти
: Allows you to use a permanent Doomguard or Infernal. You lose your 3 minute cooldown in exchange.
: Summons a second demon which fight for you for 25 seconds and does 100% increased damage. The cooldown is 1.5 minute.
: Sacrifices your demons and in exchange it sometimes deal around 22,000 damage to the target and all enemies in a 8 yards radius.
For single-target and multi-target
Гримуар верховной власти
is the winner due to more shards to be used on Drain Cycles.
: You create a
which is only attackable by you. 35% of the damage dealt is duplicated on the target it is linked to. Lasts 10 minutes. The
spawns where you cast it.
: Places a
over the target and deals damage to all the targets within 25 yards for 13.8 seconds. You receive 30% of the damage done as healing. 1 minute cooldown.
: Every Soul Shard you spend has a 20% chance to be refunded.
For Single Target the clear winner is
if you really despize
and are ok with an ~5% damage hit. For anything 3 targets or more,
doesn’t have many uses outside of AP farming and really low level heroics due to the strengths of the other two.

Explanation for each choice is given below in the descriptions for all talent options in each tier. Many of these talent builds will have tiers 45 and 75 missing, because these are mostly flavor talents and have little to zero impact on actual damage, and are interchangeable with primary damage specializations as the encounter demands in terms of mitigation and movement.
Single Target Spec:
There are two primary single target specs to be considered involving ether
. In the last tier,
is about a 3-5% damage increase over
has some very specific advantages in terms of quicker target swapping, burst, etc.
, however, it is a fairly controversial ability due to it having the potential to be a pain to use. Because of this, and because of recent changes,
is a viable option for pure single target. In addition to this,
can be swapped with
on less movement intensive fights, or if specified adds need the bonus damage to die quicker. Also
has some potential over
on fights with multiple adds or a phase that has a short (30 - 60 second) burn requirement. Note: Any time you run
, you should always be running
This is the optimal Mythic + / low level dungeon / AOE spec:
This spec allows for optimal AOE with
, as well as still maintaining solid single target with
can be taken over
if the aoe is really needed, but its not a terribly high gain, and you sacrifice a lot of single target that you will still need for bosses.
High end Mythic +:
This is a pretty niche spec, but it has quite a few uses in the high-end mythic + world, especially in +13 and higher.
can be interchangeable with
, but you will be pretty shard capped during trash pulls that it won’t really matter. With this, remember that on trash Staying not shard capped > casting.
Гримуар верховной власти
is recommended due to the stun component of Infernal, and being able to hotswap from AOE to Single Target on the go.
I have included a small discussion on Nighthold talents to help those who aren't sure what to do.
These are just some basic recommendations and are in no way 100% optimal for all raid comps / strategies, but are a good guideline to look at for killing bosses
