(( Something weirds going on with my computer, so this might be the last you hear of me for a while. I've taken the time to post Page 17, though, however it's unedited, if I get the chance I'll try and get the edited version to you when I can. ))
- Nilon watched in ceremonial silence as Thrrag used his magic to light the brush that served as a funeral pyre for his wolf, Mistwalker. As Thrrag turned his back to the flames, Nilon swore he saw a single tear run down the Orc's cheek.
- The Orc was now wearing chain-mail Shaman garb that crackled with elemental energy. Nilon had to use all of his will power to suppress the side of his Blood Elven personality that told him to absorb its power, to have its energies for himself. Now was most definitely not the time to let himself fall into a state of hunger again.
- Thrrag walked past the Blood Elf, but Nilon put a comforting hand on his shoulder. “I’m sorry about your pet,” he said.
- The Shaman scowled at him. “She was no mere pet, Elf. She was my companion, my friend. You and your kind could never understand.”
- Nilon, seeing the error in his words, nodded. “Still, I’m sorry.”
- Thrrag lowered his head, and his entire body clenched up in rage. After a few moments he spoke. “I’m coming with you.”
- Nilon blinked in surprise. “What?”
- “You heard me,” the Orc said. “Your travels will bring you into confrontation with the Death Knight that murdered Mistwalker again, if the Undead’s words were true. I will be there when you find him, and I will kill him for good.” Thrrag’s eyes briefly flashed a blood-red. “I will have my revenge.”
- Nilon nodded. He could understand the passion that now drove Thrrag, as could all Sin’dorei. “What about your home?” he asked. “Surely there are some items in there that would be better off with a protector.”
- “They will be hidden,” Thrrag said, and grabbed his earth totem. Channeling its power, he caused the earth to rise up and block the entrance to his cave. “There.”
-
Impressive
, Nilon though, but visibly just nodded. As Thrrag walked off Nilon looked over and saw Celen standing by herself. He slowly walked over towards her.
- “Thank you,” he said
- Celen blinked in surprise. “What?”
- “Thank you,” Nilon repeated, “For coming to my aid earlier. Most High Elves would have let one of my kind die.”
- Celen looked away, her face expressionless. “Lord Holyhammer gave us a job to do, as a team. Having you alive increases the chances of everyone else’s survival and success.
- Nilon shrugged. “All the same, thank you for helping me.” He walked off.
- Celen watched him go, then looked at the ground, and stomped her foot in anger.
- …
- Morec sat alone in the captain’s quarters of his raised shipwreck: The Ghostwater. His eyes were closed and his hands were gripped tightly around something. Slowly, he moved his left hand away and moved his right to his unbeating heart, holding the necklace that it held close to his chest. The trinket was made of pure gold and hung on a chain of the purest silver. And set into the very center of it was a heart shaped sapphire.
- It was all he had left of his beloved wife.
- Had his tear ducts not stopped working years ago he would have cried.
Julia
, he thought,
I miss you so
. He and Julia had spent their honeymoon on a tour of Stranglethorn Vale, and he had bought her the necklace during a stop a Booty Bay. She had loved it, and had worn it every day since. When their tour was done they had moved to an old town in the kingdom of Alterac.
- After he had been raised into undeath, Itheac had ordered his Scourge to attack the town. Morec had been forced to slay Julia and their unborn child, but had mustered the will power to set fire to their home, making it look like an accident. This had destroyed her corpse, and prevented her from being raised into undeath.
- The necklace was the last thing – besides his memories – that he had of her.
- A knock came at the cabin door, and Morec quickly replaced the necklace in the secret compartment of his armor before responding. “Enter.”
- Garen walked in. “Master,” he said in his icy tone, “Lord Arceus wished to speak with you.”
- Morec hated how his two servants referred to Arceus as “Lord,” but Itheac’s will still bound them. “Very well, show him in.” Garen bowed and walked out, he returned with Arceus a minute later. “What is it, Rogue?”
- “What do you plan to do now, ‘Commander,’” Arceus said, clearly in mock fashion. “We’re out numbered as long as the mortals remain at the orc’s, and we’ll never be able to catch up with them if they have already left.
- Morec knew there was some credibility in Arceus’ words; he just hated to admit it. “We set a new course for the Plaugelands. The Paladin will have to go there soon if he plans to follow through on his mission, and we’ll be ready.”
- “So, we’re taking an entire voyage around the cap of the Eastern Kingdoms.” The engineer rolled his eyes. “Sounds fun.”
- “We aren’t going to their Eastern coastline, fool, we’re going to anchor off the coast of the Trisfal Glades and wait there for them.”
- “Are you insane!” Arceus exclaimed. “There are hundreds of heavily armed Forsaken patrol ships along the coast. If they realize we’re Scourge we’re going to die… again!”
- “Then salvage what we need from some wrecks we may find, but we’re making that trip. I command it.”
- Arceus scoffed at the Lord Death Knight and then walked away, followed by Garen who shut the door behind him.
- When they were gone Morec took Julia’s necklace back out. He gazed longingly at it, and then wiped away of bit of sea water that was running down his cheek.

So, how long do you think you will be out of action for? Hopefully not too long, I need my next fix. :'(

I've been waiting for Morec's past to come back haunting him, in the earlier chapters he wants to break free, maybe we'll see some of his thoughts as to his past life, and what could be the key to his freedom.

Writer's Commentary:
- Well, its good guys 5, bad guys 4. I've found some time to write up this commentary, my comp only gets the "Blue-Screen of Death" when I play WoW it seems. And thats not helping my addiction much any.
- It was speculated back on Page 16 that Mistwalker would be revived, but it seems thats not the case. If Thrrag has domination over the spirits then why didn't he? And yes, I've decided to toy around with Morec's past a little bit, the necklace's discription is actually taken directly from my own little story in which the first of the Lich King's Death Knights were created.
- I never finished it, as I found out soon after I started working on it that Arthas was the first, and it was set to take place during the first signs of the Plauge in Northrend.
- Oh, I also think that its fair to warn you that the next few pages will be me attempting to link the other characters together better, not just with Nilon. So their wont be much action, but a good number of possible plot twists are to come (or are they? O.o).
- Longest commentary I've ever written, so I'll leave you with this: what awaits our heros during and after their trek through
The Barrens
? Next Friday (with any luck) you will find out!

Heh, wait, just because Shaman's can talk to the Spirit of the Wilds, doesnt mean they try to play god. Asking them to revive the lost love ones is a huge no-no, considered to be the greatest insult to the spirits.

- Oh, I'm aware of that. But, since I was aware of that, why did I saw what I did in my commentary? O.o
- I smell plot twist!

This is all going to tie in with his totem using demon/scourge magic isnt it?

- Oh noes! You've figured it out! ABORT ABORT!
- Just kidding. Maybe it will, maybe it wont. But the real question is: Why?
EDIT: Well, its back to WoW for me. I'll let you guys stew in speculation.

I think he might have committed atrocities, and the spirits refuse to help him. Therefore, he makes them serve him.
Also, if they are going through the Barrens make sure they /leave general!

Incoming Bad News:
- My readers, I am here to inform you that there will be no Light and Death update for July 10th. I'm going on vacation with some relatives and I don't think I'll have acess to a computer (or at least not enough to write up Page 18).
- I'm sorry, and, if you cut your wrists, try not to get blood on the new carpet.

- I"M BACK!
- My vacation was drawn out a bit longer then what I had hoped for, and, on top of that, I'm having to get my computer fixed. However I'm hoping a freind of mine will let me use his computer to update Light and Death periodicly (spelling?) so don't worry...
- Well, maybe a little...
