Most important thing about this guy: have an escape route. Relax and wait for him to start attacking.
Blade Flurry avoid this by either running through him or strafing out of the path. If you don't avoid it you will quickly die. While he's channeling it, you can get a few hits on him since it'll only hit targets in a cone in front of him.
Windsong this isn't a major threat unless you are completely devoted to kiting him. If it's a problem for you, stun him.
Tornado these aren't too much of a threat on their own, but you can get boxed in very quickly since they last a while. Upon finishing the cast, the torando will spawn where you were at (2 to 3 second delay) and "orbit" that spot for about 60 seconds.

Be prepared to break your "d" and "a" keys fighting this guy.

Lith'ik the Stalker is found in Townlong Steppes. he has a few spawn points around Sik'vess. one point is 46, 74

Killed on beta 9th Sep 12. Now drops a blue Yaungol Mist-Shaman's Amulet alongside the small bag of goods.

Trick to killing this guy is to have lots of space around you and keep moving. His normal attacks don't hit for much; the whole fight is about dodging the tornado's and making sure you are not standing in front of him when he casts blade flurry (pretty much instant death if you get hit).

iamleejn's comment is primarily geared towards melee classes. For ranged classes, as long as you keep moving, you won't ever get hit by Blade Flurry. It has a short range and Lith'ik has to stop moving in order to cast it. Windsong removes all snares and roots, but it doesn't make him immune to freezes after it's been cast, so the tooltip may be deceiving. This may be a glitch, though, so it's best to aim for stuns (eg. ) instead of roots (eg. Freeze). Whenever he casts Tornado, assume that the position he casts it at (your position if he has you targeted) and a radius of about 15 yards around that point is no longer safe to stand in and keep away from it.

If you make sure you have a lot of room to kite him, you shouldn't have to worry about any of his abilities aside from stunning him (or simply moving faster than him) when he casts Windsong. This rare is cake for casters.

Is this guy moving around in stealth like Krax'ik, or is he visible?
I'm asking this because npcscan hasn't found this rare yet, only once when he was dead already.

Mantid are probably the deadliest rares in Pandaria, as their mechanics have the fewest countermeasures.

Windsong is a Mantid's weakest ability. The Mantid gains attack damage and movement speed, and cannot be snared, rooted, or slowed. Be ready to heal or use a defensive cooldown.

Tornado creates a persistent whirlwind that orbits your location when the spell was cast, dealing massive damage if it comes in contact with you. Try to place these in locations you can stay out of for a while, but be ready to deal with multiples as they last long enough for two or three to be active at the same time.

Blade Flurry is a Mantid's most lethal attack, dealing massive damage in a cone in front of the Mantid. The Mantid remains stationary and facing the same direction from the moment he starts to cast the spell, so it can be avoided simply by running through him, but the cast time is very brief and latency can often cause you to take a tick of damage even if you are clearly out of the area of effect. Stunning the Mantid during the channel will end the spell, but this isn't recommended as the spell is totally harmless and effectively a self-stun if you're not standing in it, and if you are then you're likely to be dead before you can get the stun off.

Downed on a level 89 fire mage with an item level of 423 equipped. The fight took at least 3 minutes because I was able to use mirror image twice, and had 1.5 minutes left on the cooldown from the second cast. I kited him along the road where the red circles indicate that a bomb will hit; if you can manage to get him into one of those circles when the bomb hits, he does take damage and knockback from it. I'm not sure if it interrupts his abilities.

Mages should keep in mind that Dragon's Breath will interrupt and confuse him for a couple seconds, and when he is casting his Blade Furry, you can blink away and cast your big-hitting but slow-casting spell at him while he channels.

The hardest part was avoiding the tornadoes, which hit for at least 100k, and if you kite him too far from his spawn point, he will reset (I did that 3 times avoiding the tornadoes and adds >.<)

It is possible that he initially spawns adds, because each time, there was a group of 3 mantids that followed us down the hill/road, that were not there before I pulled him. There are a few mantids within AoE range of his spawn point, and they will come with him if you use something like Pyroblast + Inferno Blast.

He dropped the Razor-Sharp Chitin Choker.

EDIT: After checking my chat log, I noticed there was no rep increase with the Black Prince, so it is possible that the rep increase requires one to be level 90.

Solo'd as a 89 BM hunter with 428 ilvl. Spawned at 41.95, 78.40 at 4:34pm on Shattered Hand server. Took two tries and the second time around took about 5-8 minutes to kill. As a hunter, just set your pet to tank and have him keep aggro. Then just dps him hard (:

Not worth the trouble if you're a 88- melee. Drops are sub-par since you'll be replacing them very soon, and he spawns next to several adds, making it harder to place the tornadoes. If you want the jewels (which isn't a 100% drop, mind you) go ahead and destroy your repair bill.

this was my last one needed for the Glorious Achievement. found him at 48.88, after flying a circle around the tree for about half an hour.

If he spawns on 44.0, 88.6 pull him down the hill and you can get help from the two "Farwatch Marksman" next to the graveyard. They won't die, and they will keep fighting him if you die. They don't do much damage and don't hold threat, though, but it can be something to consider if you keep dying.

This was done with a retribution paladins with the talent Pursuit of Justice but I would imagine it would work for any melee with at least +15% movement speed.

My latency was causing me some trouble when I tried to do him "properly" as the small delay would result in me getting hit once or twice most of the time :(

So what I did was clear some mobs to give me room to kite and then simply fought him while moving backwards continuously. This made Tornado a non-issue and gave me just enough time to get out of range of his Blade Flurry While taking slightly longer than strafing/running throught he flurry it made the fight trivial.

had him almost dead and kited him back to shado-pan camp trying to kill him (on 88 monk). He just disappeared and reset and fyi one monk npc helped for some reason none of the others did. And of course a level 90 Huntard immediately pulled him then and killed him. This game is so stupid sometimes.

I found this fight extremely easy as an 89 BM hunter.
Send pet in, keep up mend pet and just spam your attacks. My pet (ferocity) took very little damage, and I didn't get aggro at all.

WARNING!
ALL ATTACKS/SPELLS USED BY THIS RARE AND ALL OTHER MANTID RARES HIT HARD ON MEELEE CLASSES (Death Knights, Warriors, Paladins, Druids (in tank/dps spec), Rouges, and Monks) AND PLATE WEARERS, SO BE CAREFUL!
If your class is NOT meelee (Hunter, Mage, Shaman, Warlock, Priest) and if you have a pet with you (Death Knights have Army of the Dead and Raise Dead, Hunters can use any pet, Warlocks have Summon Voidwalker/Voidlord, Mages have Summon Water Elemental, Shamans can use and/or Priests can probably use Shadowfiend)) use your pet to tank throughout the fight.

THE FIGHT:
Blade Flurry is important if you're a meelee class, so be careful not to get too close to him, the best way is to run a little ways away from him.
Windsong- Avoid this, again, if meelee, just kite him around until his buff wears off.
Tornado- You can see a little tornado swirling around in a cirle, STAY AWAY from it and move from a different location.

Wash, rinse, and repeat until you kill him!

Yet another annoying mantid rare. What's super annoying is that the mantid rares must be kited (unless you're a hunter or maybe warlock) but they leash very quickly if they aren't being damaged continually. The leashing behavior is just so, so, so annoying.

Dropped a Blood-Soaked Invitation to the Brawler's Guild (in addition to the shattered locket and small bag of goods). It seems that these invitations are now easier to get as of Patch 5.3.

Just a note that this guy can and will do Blade Flurry twice in a row. Also, be careful not to stray too far from his spawn location during the fight. Moving away from the tornados and bait you into that.

Finally, I must not be very good at this game :( Got one heck of a repair bill and never downed him. At least the spawn is near a graveyard :D

While Blade Flurry is normally easy to avoid, it's a lot harder to run behind him when the Sik'thik Vess-Guards slow you with their puke. Save something for the slows.

Not having read the comments here, I was unprepared. The "Blade Flurry" graphic looks like flames or the same kind of acid discharge that so many other mantid spew out randomly, without doing all that much harm. My plate-wearing (that would be Kleenex-strength level 503 plate, I admit) warrior wouldn't be in much trouble from somebody's leftover lunch, right? After getting one-shotted (one-sprayed?), I came back to rez and found a BE Lock had slapped Lith'ik so hard there weren't even any pieces left. No mantid barbecue for me.

But then I read "Inflicts 55% of the target's maximum health in Physical damage to all enemies..." Not 100%. Not 275% in 11.3 nanoseconds. Not a one-shot - a 1/2 shot (well OK, 55% - a little more than 1/2). So I had 45% + or - left, right? Where did it go? Under the couch?

The curse of the glitch has struck again. I asked a few of the "elders" in my guild about Lith'ik and got an earful about mantid rares. It seems they are all glitched fairly often, in many different ways. Let me count the ways, they said. I passed.

It's just part of the fun. Bring an RDPS to kill Lith'ik. If you're an MDPS, you're bringing a knife to a gunfight.
