One of the two new Gladiator weapons added in patch 2.1, the other being a +16 resilience/+348 healing hammer with the same stats
This item costs 3,150 Arena points.
Nice to see they added some elemental shaman options. I hate using daggers, don't feel very shamany...
Alright, let's go about my post another way, since a lot of people seem to be confused by it.
My original post:
"Why does this Mace have to be a 1.6 speed? It's saying "**** you"(edited in case that was the reason it's down voted) to the Spell Damage Paladins because with a fast mace you get...
1) Very low Seal of Righteousness damage.
2) Very very VERY low Seal of Vengeance proc rates.
3) Even more laughable white damage(not a factor, but still).
Very disappointing for Blizzard, especially since PvP weapons tend to be slower."
My complaints with this item are not because of the DPS of the weapon, but the actual speed, and I listed the reasons why, because other than Holy Shock, Consecration, and the damage Judgements, how is a Paladin going to deal his Holy Damage that he spec'd this way for? His melee Seals.
1) 1.6 speed = a very low SoR damage, and a very low +damage benefit from gear. It adds up to the same overall, but it's just not as impressive to see lots of little numbers with SoR when you could be seeing higher hitting numbers. Plus the whole burst damage/PvP thing.
2) 1.6 speed = a low proc rate on Seal of Vengeance. 53.3333333...%, to be exact(forumla = PPM x 100 / (60 / *weapon speed*), 20x100 / (60/1.6))
53% may not be too bad, but when I used a Vibro Sword(1.4 speed, 46.6666...% proc rate,
), Holy Vengeance was either not stacking at all or it was stacking for 1 or 2 charges, then fall off completely. Hopefully, I'm wrong here.
3) 3 really isn't an issue, but bleh.
I hope this explains my post better
EDIT: I just realized after writing this, Horde Paladins truly get left in the dust because their unique Seal, Seal of Blood, is a Ret Paladin's Seal and gets nothing from +damage, so they are left with crappy(with this weapon) SoR. For once, I feel sorry for the Blood Elves.
I notice that weapons with +spell damage have around 40 dps. I think it's designed this way so rogues or dw warriors would not use and favor something else.
This didn't include the epic boost yet. It is now:
Damage: 22-111 (-1-+3)
Speed: 1.60 (+0)
DPS: 41.4 (+0.7)
Stamina: 28 (+1)
Intellect: 18 (+1)
Resilience Rating: 18 (+1)
Spell Damage: 199 (+12)
That's 78 spell damage more than Continuum Blade for only 2 stamina less. Yes, we'll miss some Spell Hit, but we also get more Int, which ain't bad for tanking at all.
This weapon is great for spelldmg paladins, Holy/Retri pala´s who go for dps would like this :), If you have seen "Fury of Light", then you know what I mean :P. I thought before seen that, that paladins can´t do dps with a spec like 40/0/21 (holy/retri) but now I know that they can with the right gear, this mace is rly good for that kind of pala.
I'm trying to chase this Spell Mace, it's one of the best in the game for an Elemental Shaman.
One of the reasons for the fast attack speed could infact be to favor Shaman, who get a flat 10% of spell damage applied to each hit with Flametounge Weapon applied, regardless of weaponspeed. Thus, a fast weapon deals more flametounge damage... Elemental Shaman rarely melee... but a quick weapon is better just in case...
It's a shame that it doesn't come with any spell crit... but most shaman picking this up are already sitting between 30-40% lightning crit, so the extra damage and stamina on this mace make it a good choice.
Many shaman have Gavel of Unearthed Secrets, this Mace is a step up from the gavel... and then The Mindblade or Tempest sit just above if you're still stacking spell crit.
This mace will be available for honour next patch from a separate vendor to the arena one along with all of the other S1 Arena gear.
Easily accessible for the casual pvpers.
As of Patch 2.3 this item costs 25,200 Honor and 20 Eye of the Storm Marks.
This weapon is actually very good for AOE grinding. According to WoWwiki, seal and judgement of Light/Mana have an unfixed proc rate. That means that about 50% of the strikes you preform will heal or restore mana. With the fast attack speed, you experience a lot of healing and mana restoration which is really nice when AOE grinding and reckoning procs. The spell damage that this weapon carries helps out too, compared to Gavel of Unearthed Secrets and Continuum Blade, you will be doing more damage with concecrate and holy shield. Paired up with the Petrified Lichen Guard, you have a very powerful AOE combo.
After season 3 arena set coming out, this mace became virtually free to have as paladin tanking and can/should be considered as starting weapon for any tankadins.
With +40 spelldamage this is really great weapon to start raids and is enouhg to tier 5 gear equalents, which eases gearing up of other raid members.
This mace can give paladins a little extra leeway in their itemization for getting to uncrittable (490 defense). 18 resilience translates to 0.46% reduction in critical strike chance, 490 defense on its own gives you 5.60% crit reduction, which is the crit chance of level 73 mobs against players. So you can go as low as 479 defense (5.16% crit reduction) and still be uncrittable with this mace--so you can go for more pure avoidance gems, such as dodge, more stam or more spelldamage, whatever your need with this extra bit of leeway.
By the time you're able to get the next real upgrade from this mace for tankadins (
), your defense shouldn't be a matter of concern. Until you kill the eagle boss in ZA though, you'll be best off with the Gladiator's Gavel.
Exact same stats as Gladiator's Spellblade.
Can anyone tell me which is better for a PvP Shadow Priest ?
This with Gladiator's End Game -
Or the Gladiator's War Staff -
im a 70 shaman. Just got all of my S1 gear. I pvp most of the time. love to gank. I have just one question though. Would you choose this mace or the other glad dagger over
? My guild does run kara but i believe im a little under geared and their is many people who want the dagger. Im leaning towards this mace but im not sure, id like to know your opinions. =) thx
about this mace being no longer available. I flew out to Netherstorm today (1/1/12) and bought it from Kezzik for 750 Honor, along with Vengeful Gladiator's Mooncloth Hood for my transmog set.
