Seems to be missing some spell power for an ilvl 232 item
a weapon ilvl 226 is 520
a weapon ilvl 213 is 461
a weapon ilvl 200 is 408

so logically it should be 589 each time 13 ilvls has equated to 1.13*the previous lvl of spell power

Scrap that ive realised its only 6 ilvls higher

so 520*1.06 = 551 so its pretty close to the mark wow im daft

I wouldn't say it's referring to a Christian story considering Ulduar is in the Storm peaks, wich follows Norse Mythology. But you aren't quite wrong with what you stated.

Most likely not a reference to Bioshock (Bioshock is an fps taking place in an underwater city). More of a reference to the City of Rapture's namesake, the Biblical return of Christ and the final assent to heaven.

It could be taken as a Bioshock reference, but the fact that this is a caster weapon (including priests) leads me to believe it to be a Biblical reference.

Or it could be that it just has a despondent connotation.

Ok, remove the part where I said ulduar is a city. Everything else is still reasonable, but don't get fooled into thinking that Blizzard would make a bioshock reference in this way.

As mentioned above, scales amazingly well for any caster, even against 1h/oh combos (at least until Staff of Endless Winter), especially for demo or hybrid warlocks with points in Demonic Aegis due to the insane spirit.

This staff should go to priests and resto druids first.

It's by far the best staff for them, and the MH/OH combo with Guiding Star should be going to Resto shamans and holy paladins first.

Mages and warlocks should be going after the superior Runescribed blade + OH combo.

Shadow priests, boomkins, and ele shaman all have better options as well. Like the two other staves that drop, or Soulscribe + off-hand.

While if you use the cheaper Spellpower staff enchant it gives this staff a cool purple hue around the globe of light.

I agree that MH+OH are better than 2H BUT you linked item combos is bad for Balance Druids, at least. The OH is BAD. With T8 we get tons and tons of hit and actually have problems being way over cap once we get 4p

using the following formula from wowwiki:

Mana Regen = 5 * (0.001 + sqrt(Int) * Spirit * Base_Regen ) * 0.60

this staff gives roughly about +64 mana per tick while not in the FSR. (five second rule, the wait time after casting before mana regen kicks in)

heres the mathmatics for all you geeks out there :P (just used 400 base int and spirit. it will differ slightly for greater amounts of both these stats)

5 (0.001+√400 * 400 * 0.005575) * 0.6
5 (44.6) * 0.6
223 * 0.6 = 133.8 mana per tick

(note the added stats, +119 int and +121 spirit)

5 (0.001+√519 * 521 * 0.005575) * 0.6
5 (66.2) * 0.6
331 * 0.6 = 198.6 mana per tick

189.6 - 133.8 = 64.8 difference

Plague,
if you are a druid (just like me), it does mean you would need this staff more than a priest. Resto druids are the most benefitting class from spirit, so they should be the main candidates for rolling over this staff...
It was designed for druids - you can tell from its looks, see those leaves on the top?

Basor, you are a selfish git, why would you, under and circumstances, have priority on this weapon? I have a resto druid main, and i don't see how it benefits me more. And leaves? You gotha be kidding me... So now people are picking weapons just by looks? I hope i never get to raid with you.

This weapon is wielded by Gunther Von Harringa, a level 80 human priest. The spirit gain is very beneificial he says, as it inreases his Mp5 regeneration and also gets him closer to his "God".

Now, with 4.3 and Transmog out, this makes for a beautiful replacement to many of the staffs I see today. Plus, as a tauren druid, this staff with it's plantlike appearance matches my gear and my character. As a staff model that very few people have seen before (these days) it is definitely an eye catcher for standing around the Valley of Strength.

A definite win, in terms of looks.
