Not really worth the craft if you want to preserve Primordial Saronite, considering there are two other iLVL 264 Boots around with almost the exact same stats.
It really depends on what you already have or what's available to you -
Scourge Fanged Stompers
Grinning Skull Greatboots
are considered to be better. Of course, both are drops and sometimes getting them can be a little frustrating. Choose wisely!
Similar to the craftable BS pants added with this patch, there is no defense on this item. I believe this is due to the fact that at this level, remaining ucrittable should be no issue for tanks, and blizzard is reallocating those item points toward threat generation to accomodate the insane DPS people will be pulling.
Good pair of boots, and accessible for people who can't get to the hard modes.
I'm waiting for my guild crafter right now to log on so I can get these bad boys made. They'll go nicely with the Frost Emblem belt I just purchased. I'm excited! Tho I am now in debt 1 Primordial Saronite to my guild.
Best thing about these boots is the Hit Rating. I'm the kind of tank who isn't comfortable being under 8% hit, and I'll actually gain a bit upgrading to these from my Boots of the Lingering Vortex...
nice hoofs but how do the boots look? LOL
I just got this lovely boots on my DK tank, its worth if can buy the Primordials around 1.5k for each.
the next similar Tanking boots lvl 264 is Grinning Skull Greatboots from 25-man Valithria Dreamwalker that gives Expertise , kinda hard to get.
The lack of defense on whole SERIES of tanking gear in ICC is the bad part. Not that just this one item is missing defense.
Like the pants, thats -80 defense, which has to be made up somehow. Yeah most of us are over the DEF minimum (cap is a bad word for 540 defense, its not a cap) but we aren't 80 defense over it.
With 2 nice sockets, and, a good bit of strength & stam plus the socket bonus, make these a worthwhile investment. If, like me, you're tanking ICC, you will appreciate the dodge AND parry. The best thing to remember is that you can get these before even walking into ICC... These boots should not be overlooked.
These are the gems I put in mine.
So I got Dodge, Parry, Defense, and, Stamina. Can't argue with that for raid tanking.
I bought the mats for these bad boys for around 6.5K and tipped the BSer 150g to smithy them. Socketed them with 2x +30stam and enchanted them +22stam.
These rock solid kickers will last me till the grinning skulls come before me. Best invenstment for a tank atm. Save your emblems for stuff you can't buy from AH or BSers. These boots are insanely worth their money even if you buy them of the AH at 9K (Hellfire price). On to pillars of might for me and saving up the emblems for the nice trinkets.
These have no Defense rating but they have DODGE?
Edit: the reason why i dont get why they have dodge is because of the dodge decrease in ICC
I know it's a
old post but I feelI need to add this:
Even with the -20% dodge debuff in ICC, any points put towards dodge still benefits overall avoidance; if you, hypothetically, have 40% dodge and are in ICC, the reduction will put you at 20%. Any further increase in your dodge rating, as an example 5%, will then put you at 25%:-
40% - 20% debuff + 5% = 25%
It's not a variable '-20% of your current rating', but instead a static reduction of '-20%'.
Edited because me fail English... Would seem that it's
unpossible after all :(
Edit #2: Rated up, rated down, rated up, rate... You people make no sense ¬_¬
Only counting the raw materials, to make these (not including the primordial saronite that Wowhead states), it will take:
20 eternal earth
8 eternal fire (for titansteel)
8 eternal shadow (for titansteel)
24 titanium bars
both the pants and the boots
, it will take:
52 eternal earth
20 eternal fire
20 eternal shadow
60 titanium bars
Another good thing to remember with these zero +defense pieces: if you're using
Великое начертание гладиатора
you can get away with 536 defense and still be crit immune, and if you aren't using that enchant you should.
On high population servers you can generally get these for about 2.5-3k cost price. I would recommend saving up a few badges on your mains if gearing alts and just get them crafted. They are excellent - especially if you don't do many 25 mans.
A funny fact about this boot is that it is the only boot in the game that has the word
on it (except for the Challenge Mode Warrior Set Boots).
So next time you need to find this item just search for
