These are hands down the best tanking gloves available. The *decent* amount of bonus armor make them insanely good for progression and not even any of the other known iLvl 277 gloves can really challenge them in terms of EH.
Update: Still very good after the changes to T10, the discrepancy just isn't as BIG anymore. Don't buy them unless you don't want to gear for 4/5 of T10.
No doubt these are the best gloves, however you may want to pass buying this for a while because you can get the set gloves from the new VoA boss once the new Arena season comes out.
VoA bosses drop PvP and PvE Tier gear...
These gloves reference the legendary sea monster The Kraken. A giant squid thought to live off the coast of Norway or Iceland. It was known for living in the deepest water of the sea and attacking ships that disturbed it. You can read a bit more about the Kraken
These get updated in 3.3.2, new stats:
Socket Bonus: +9 Stamina
Equip: Increases defense rating by 63.
Equip: Increases your parry rating by 48.
Anyone else notice how these gloves don't seem to have a durability rating in-game?
Fixed now, sadly.
The Tier 10 tanking plate gloves and chest pieces now have their appropriate durability on them.
With the exception of tier gear, it is generally very difficult to find gear that both has well itemized stats for you
looks aesthetically pleasing when you equip it. Let's face facts, most of us players (unless you're playing on a die-hard lore guild on an RP server) will take whatever gear we can get our grubby little hands on as long as it is an upgrade statwise. I mean, who cares if your gear looks freakin awesome if it's so poorly itemized that you can't keep your group alive?
Well thankfully Blizz has decided to give us a set of ilvl 264 gear in the ICC patch that is very well itemized, easily obtainable, and looks really cool when you equip all pieces together. The best part is, all except 2 of these items can be obtained PRE-RAID either through crafting professions or your everyday
Emblem of Frost
from heroics (doing weeklys, VOA, and ICC raids can speed this up, of course, but for the sake of argument, most of this stuff CAN be obtained pre-raid).
So, without any further ado, i give you..., the "Everyman" tanking set:
Boots of Kingly Upheaval
Pillars of Might
Verdigris Chain Belt
Gauntlets of the Kraken
Boneguard Commander's Pauldrons
(Gunship Armory 25)
Broken Ram Skull Helm
(Lady Deathwisper 25)
*I have purposefully left out bracers since they have no visual impact on your character when this entire set is equipped. Visually, this shares the models of warrior T10 gear, only this set includes a matching belt and boots. The beauty of this set is that it can be equipped by
any plate wearing tank class
and the stats are so strong and well itemized, it actually can give you more survivability and threat as a tank than your T10 set bonuses can come close to.

So, we've got a cool looking set of gear, but let's not forget the most important aspect of any gear set...,
! Gear sets shouldn't only look good together, but must function well together and this set of gear is extremely well balanced for any tanking class. Here are the summed totals of each tanking stat in this set as of the current patch (excluding socket bonuses):
Armor = 18058 (more than any tier set in the game)
Stamina = 1249
Strength = 860
Defense Rating = 405 (over 2/3 of the way to def cap in this gear alone)
Dodge Rating = 288
Parry Rating = 315
Expertise Rating = 82
Hit Rating = 127
15 Gem Sockets (excluding profession added and eternal belt buckle sockets):
Meta --> 1 (in the helm of course)
Blue --> 5
Yellow --> 5
Red --> 5
The stats/sockets in this set are higher and just as balanced as what you will find in your tier gear (FAR more than the ilvl 251 version, and slightly more than the ilvl 264 version which is incredibly time consuming to get). Any filler stats you need can be obtained through your bracers, neckpiece, rings, trinkets, and weapons. Considering how much easier this set is to obtain than T10.5, I can see the "Everyman" gear set becoming the tank set of choice for many players.
Release the Kraken!
Somebody had to do it.
