Patch 4.2 - PTR Build 14002 - New Items, Spell Changes, Icons, and Maps
2011-05-04 в 17:38
The PTR is finally starting to come up and we have a lot of information to post. There are over a thousand latest additions, dozens of new icons, two new maps, and even tier 12 pieces starting to be datamined.
The legendary quest is being slowly revealed by the changes to our database. This looks like a very detailed quest chain, similar to the first caster staff legendary.
Гнев Дракона, вечный покой Таресгосы
will be the feat of strength,
is part of the quest to create it, and it's likely that
are what is collected to forge the staff.
There will be four new vanity pets:
. The last one will be the guild reward for completing the legendary.
A lot of profession recipes have been added, similar to the craftable ones from TBC days. Some are BoP and some are BoE.
Выкройка: хватка зла
Выкройка: инфернальные полуперчатки дона Тайо
Чертеж: вечные элементиевые боевые рукавицы
Выкройка: сапоги черного пламени
are some examples.
Some pieces of tier gear were found, though they are not a set yet.

Arena Passes for 2011 Now Open
2011-05-04 в 12:55
It's that time of the year again--Blizzard has opened registration for the arena tournament realms where players compete for a chance to win exclusive prizes, including
Маленькое копье Мурчалия
and the elusive Vanquisher title. The title is worth getting for the sheer number of questions you'll get, we promise; for some reason, people always seem to think it's a bug with Twilight Vanquisher not displaying properly.
So are you competing this year seriously? Are you facerolling for that pet you've always wanted (he is pretty cute)? Or maybe you've already conquered past years and are passing this time? Let us know in the comments!
Oh and if you're just interested in the pet, it's 50 rated games to qualify by the end of the online qualifier.
Registration for the 2011 World of Warcraft Arena Pass is now open. Remember, this year all participants in the Arena Pass have a chance to earn the exclusive Armored Murloc pet as well as the exclusive "Vanquisher" title, so get your team together and be ready for fierce competition.

Patch 4.2 Preview: Trinkets From Firelands
2011-05-04 в 11:30
With 4.1 and 4.2 being split up last month unexpectedly, our database has a few vestiges of content that technically exist on live that don't drop yet. Of these items, the most important are the trinkets. Trinkets are probably World of Warcraft's most loved and hated item; they never seem to drop when you need them to. Firelands, of course, has its own set of new trinkets. While the PTR is not up yet for us to see what boss they will come from, we have them here for your viewing pleasure. We featured them a few months ago, but they got lost in the numerous updates made since.
Something interesting about this tier of trinkets is that they all have unique procs or on uses--there are also a lot of them, fifteen for each version of the raid. I wonder if one set of the trinkets is possibly from a quest reward that's different in normal and heroic, something akin to
Героическое правосудие в Оке Вечности
from Wrath of the Lich King's

News Roundup: 4.2 PTR Soon, Crowd Control Changes and more!
2011-05-03 в 18:37
Things have been a little quiet lately in the wake of the massive amount of 4.2 details Blizzard has shared with us lately, but today we've got confirmation from Zarhym that the 4.2 Public Test Realms will come up "soon" (most likely sooner than we think!), including all of the changes documented in the recently published 4.2 PTR Patch Notes! Be sure to get the PTR client downloaded and ready for action - but don't worry, even if you aren't, we'll definitely be there for you guys providing you with up to the minute extensive coverage! :)
In addition, there's a few blue posts regarding dungeon difficulty (seems all anyone can talk about lately) and some clarification on the justification of the 4.2 change to crowd control. Personally, I think this change is awesome and I'm all for it - I've always hated the messiness of coordination and execution of crowd control (involving both friends and strangers) and this change is a welcome convenience. Of course, many players don't agree with the change and are making their opinions heard. Let's see what Blizzard has to say on the matter - and tell us what you think!

Patch 4.2 PTR Patch Notes Now Available
2011-05-02 в 21:54
As promised, the PTR is coming really soon. Like, really soon. Blizzard has hinted at this by posted the first wave of patch notes for it. This is exciting news for us here at Wowhead because it means our database will soon be overflowing with Firelands items and information! Read on to get a peek at what Blizzard has in store for us during this initial set of changes for 4.2. Personally, we think the most interesting change is definitely the crowd control changes because that's been needed for years. We also find the fact that Warriors will no longer require stances for certain abilities pretty interesting for both PvE and PvP situations.
As always, you can check out fully updated patch notes on Wowhead or click the break to read them right here in the post.
News Roundup: May 2nd Hotfixes and Blizzard Daily Posts
2011-05-02 в 21:51
Some hotfixes were just posted for 4.2--a lot of minor quest changes and fixes to things that broke at 4.1's launch, nothing too important. Additionally, we have your roundup of daily blue posts in which they give advice on how to deal with bad players and tease to BoA gear eventually being cross-server at some point in the not too distant future!
Last but not least, there's also long list of all the shiny stuff they've been showing us lately as well which is always worth a second look.
Cenarion Hatchling Giveaway - Comment to Win!
2011-05-02 в 17:47
We here at Wowhead have three Cenarion Hatchlings and they need a good home in-game--preferably one that will take them out for a flight around Azeroth every now and then! All you have to do is tell us what is your favorite vanity pet and why to be entered to win one. We'll be picking the three lucky owners tomorrow, May 3rd, at 2PM PDT and emailing them their codes shortly after.
The rules are quite simple for this mini-contest:
You must be on a US or EU server.
You must have a Wowhead account.
You must comment on this post with your favorite vanity pet. Comments on Twitter and Facebook do not enter you to win.
We reserve the right to disqualify any entry. Other than that there are no restrictions, it's as simple as letting us know what your favorite pet is and why before tomorrow afternoon. Of course, if you already bought one of these hatchlings, you can still enter as well. The more hatchlings the merrier, we say--just give the code you get to a friend!
UPDATE: Contest is closed. Winners were announced over here. The post is locked to
Cenarion Hatchling on Sale, 100% of Profits go to Japan Relief
2011-05-02 в 12:51
Blizzard is doing Japan earthquake relief their own way--with a cute in-game pet!
We've been speculating for a while how Blizzard will help Japan out, but none of us imagined they'd do this!
Детеныш кенарийского гиппогрифа
just went up at the Blizzard store for $10 USD with a notification that 100% of the profits for this pet will be going to the Red Cross. Let's hope a lot of WoW players buy this little guy and help out Japan in the process; it's truly a win-win for people who want to donate to a good cause and get a ridiculously cute vanity pet in the process. Blizzard definitely deserves some commendation for putting this out there to help Japan and making sure that all the proceeds go directly to the charity.
Are you buying one? US players can buy one here and EU players can buy one here.
We also have a minicontest up for this pet over here--do not reply to this post to enter, it will not count!

News Roundup: Ask the Devs #7, Wowhead Contest Winners, and Dungeon Journal Preview
2011-05-02 в 11:51
Ask the Devs just started to take questions for their seventh installment and this time it's all about professions! Let's hope we get some better questions and answers than last week; it'd be interesting to see Blizzard's insight into balancing professions and their thoughts on archaeology in particular. EU players can ask in this thread while US players should ask over here.
4.2 Dungeon Journal FAQ
There's a new preview for the new Dungeon Journal feature that's supposed to be hitting World of Warcraft in 4.2. Sadly it doesn't tell us too much--essentially this feature looks like it will provide content a lot of fansites do, showing bosses and their abilities as well as providing an overview of an instance. Seems like it will be great for newer players, but more experienced ones will still prefer to use websites and forums for their information. It should be of an enormous help to pick-up groups, though. We can't wait for more information about it, so here's to hoping it gets a bigger preview soon!
