I hope to cover and showcase some of the interesting topics, discussions, content and guides that have been going on over the last week in the gold making community. Some that you might have missed as a veteran gold maker, or you might be interested in checking out for the first time as a new or aspiring ‘goblin’.
The format will not be that of a traditional guide, but links to further reading with commentary and opinions of my own. I will be looking at the bigger picture, the decision making and thought processes in being a gold maker – rather than a step by step instructional list. As the saying goes, “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”.
Shortly after publishing my weekly wrap-up last week I was checking out changes on the PTR regarding vanilla enchanting materials.
Previously I reported that these items were going to be convertible
from the defunct/removed items to the new items, however
as my tests were indicating on January 7th
these items were simply
from the inventory of the character I copied to the PTR.

As of January 12th, the latest 7.3.5 PTR build has been tagged as a 'release candidate'
and is very likely ready to be shipped to live servers imminently. Unfortunately the PTR servers are offline at the time of writing and I'm unable to double-check the situation on the vanilla enchanting materials situation - there is still conflicting information from various tests and there has been no confirmation from the developers on what their intent is on handling these particular items for patch 7.3.5. Previously, straight-up removals were generally saved for currencies with a monetary reward or compensation for each unit removed from inventories. However, this could be the first time items are removed from the game entirely. Another indication of this is that the datamining here on Wowhead.com shows the items being completely removed from the database, rather than depreciate or 'transformable', or even changed to grey vendor-quality.
Despite this being a very small market/subset of items I'm anxious and eager to find out exactly how it's going to be handled because this could be setting a new precedent for future profession system changes.

For a few days this past week there was a bustling market based on more changes discovered on the PTR for patch 7.3.5 - these changes were later adjusted and hotfixes were implemented, however for those goblins paying attention and identifying the demand for a 'new' item it was time to laugh all the way to the bank.
The changes involved being able to purchase legendary tokens for your class with
, instead of just upgrading them like is possible on live servers today. Inadvertently, this meant that if you had upgraded all of the legendaries you had available to upgrade, you could no longer initiate the quest from
to actually acquire the
. In order to trigger the availability of the quest you could obtain a crafted legendary item that had not been upgraded or crafted at item level 1000 and start the quest, without having to equip the item. The market for 940 and 970 crafted legendaries, previously less desirable, had boomed.
Entrepreneurial goblins quickly realised you only needed to 'rent' the item to the buyer, since it didn't even need to be equipped in order to acquire the quest. Loaning the non-upgraded crafted legendary for a fee and 'selling' the same item to multiple people is (or was) the perfect strategy. This didn't last long however, as I mentioned, the developers made announcements clarifying their intent and implementing changes to ensure that anyone could acquire
even if they weren't on the quest.
Few additional details on the new Legendary token:
We've just pushed a hotfix live that makes
s drop for everyone, regardless of whether you're on the quest or not.
We'll also be dramatically increasing both the number of
s required to purchase tokens (

the rate at which you gain them in Patch 7.3.5. The overall time investment needed to purchase a token will stay roughly the same, but this will minimize the benefits of stockpiling
s ahead of time.
Note: Emissary bags earned prior to the release of 7.3.5 will still give pre-7.3.5 numbers of
s. There is no benefit to saving Emissary bags until after the patch.
We also plan to add
s to your first Battleground win of the day in 7.3.5.
The tokens are bind on pickup because we don't want to overly encourage players to farm
s on alt characters in order to feed Legendary items to their mains. However, if you purchase and use a token on a character that already has all of the available legendaries for their class, you will be given a random BoA token for another class.

I bought one for 300k, sold for 1m, profiting 650k. I'm pretty happy though, since I knew it'd be a short term thing. Blizzard wouldn't allow currency stockpiling like that, so I assumed the prices would plummet soon. In the end, it worked out well for me, since I was sort of late to the party during the first announcement. I bought it so I could get the quest on one of my characters and just bought the cheapest one available. Then I just threw it up for 1m in case it would sell while constantly canceling the auction to trade it to friends/guildies so they could get the quest as well.
To the point of this section header, this really was a 'flash-in-the-pan' style market. Only viable for a matter of days, if not hours, before it was no longer a thing. Really drives home the point of paying attention to live and PTR patch notes, even moreso the PTR datamining since this wasn't actually documented and never made it to live servers.

Leatherworking - I'm able to make 2 legendaries, both of which sell very well.
Enchanting - I'm able to shuffle. Since I have LW and Tailoring, I can shuffle cloth, leather, and scales, whichever's cheapest.
Tailoring - I can make the Celumbra's legendary, but it doesn't sell very well, and much lower than the mail or leather legendaries. Pre 7.2 I made mad stacks on the obliterum forge unlock bracers. Sad times when that unlock mechanic dried up.
Cooking - I make lavish feasts and the component recipes. They still sell well, but I expect them to drop soon, as we enter the final legs of this expansion.
With alchemy, I got in late, and didn't get rank 3's until pretty late in the expansion, by which time the flask prices had been deflated to a net loss unless I farm my own herbs, which I don't do.

Unsure where to rank: Leatherworking. Mostly sell WoD crafted epics and leather love seats.
For me personally I don't think I could rank professions in a particular order as my order changes quite regularly. If I was asked this question a few months ago I might have placed Leatherworking at the top of my list, primarily for old-world and previous expansions crafts, however I'm not able to keep a supply of materials that are required for those crafts so the profession has been performing quite poorly for me specifically recently.
With that said, I do think that professions are in a great place at the moment. If current content is quite as profitable as it used to be then old-world stuff and previous expansion crafts are generally pretty strong too. The strength of different professions change as an expansion progresses after launch, as we discussed last week. The "Big Three" (Leatherworking, Blacksmithing and Tailoring) are very good to have at the very start of an expansion, being able to craft items that people are actually equipping outside of niche 'Best in Slot' pieces is incredibly lucrative, filling gear slots with an ilvl bump for PvE content etc. In Legion there was the whole crafted bracer market to unlock the Obliterum Forge too as /u/Eeyore_ pointed out, being able to capitalise on those kind of markets early on is a huge boost to profits and there could be something similar added to Battle for Azeroth. I've always said that as a gold-maker, you'd want to have at least one of each profession - that way you can 'exploit' as many profitable opportunities as possible and focus your attention on any markets that are strong at any particular time.
As an side, that's also my own goal leading up to the launch of Battle for Azeroth, despite concentrating on previous expansion crafts for most of my own gold-making, I'd like to be ready for the new expansion with all professions at max skill and spend more time in future current content for the purposes of helping the wider gold-making community.

- Pretty good money on its own with transmutes and occasional flasks and potions.
is huge here. I make a lot of gold selling
by itself, and I even have it twice. The main thing that brings it to #1 though is that the shuffles it allows from transmuting make all my other professions good. Most people to to recommend this professions because of flasks and potions, but I rarely even bother with that market so it's not at the top because of any of that.

- and not even for farming either. That's right mining as a crafting profession is one of the best. For similar reasons to alchemy having the ability to smelt cheap ore instead of needing to buy bars is very valuable, especially when the people who farm large quantities tend to put up huge amounts of ore at a time, and I pretty much double my buying opportunities when shopping for mats to make things. It's also the main profession behind my favourite shuffle of all: making

- Mounts are good! Sometimes Argus gems too I guess, having

- Huge volumes with this one, but all the food is so cheap now it makes my mailbox look sad with all the numbers less than 1000. Feasts are okay but keeping track of a dozen different mats and keeping them all in stock is a big task for not that much profit at the end. Really good though because of my favorite food:

- used to be pretty bad for me, but has been picking up recently. Pretty much all my BS markets are transmog except the mount, which I've been able to make pretty regularly by doing a lot of BoS missions and WQs when I can. As far as transmog goes it's better than tailoring for me, after a few months in the market it's paying off.
- Is it really the worst? Eh probably not but it's boring. One of those tight margins markets where you need to pay attention to the market for it to be good. Pretty decent on tomes, especially

which are harder to get so less competitive. Old world enchants seem to be a pretty good market for this one because of twinks and alts (enchanted heirlooms) but I don't really know which ones sell besides

is good but I really have no idea. I did spend an hour or so fishing for
once so there's that.
- No idea what would sell, Never tried to sell any but I do have it at 800. I think most people would be okay with placing it last.
Leatherworking, Inscription, Skinning and Herbalism I don't have so aren't included.
Making Gold with Engineering
pointed out they put together a
guide on making gold with Engineering
and I would like to highlight some of that here as it's a very good overview of a profession that is often overlooked and dismissed for being irrelevant. Engineering is also one of my own favourite professions and because a lot of people under-appreciate it there is often very little competition in these markets.
The first part talks about Engineering mounts:
This is the big one people talk about when discussing Engineering. How much fat cash you can make selling the quadrillion mounts you can make with Engineering. There's 7 different mounts you can make, but a single engineer can only really make up to 5.

every day for a month then combing it with 30
. This is probably the most common one people make who have engineering and don't do a lot of old world stuff. It's pretty straightforward and doesn't require too much effort to be profitable. You will need to go out and kill MoP stuff to get the recipe to make this. If you're only going to be making this one with your old world crafts you would probably benefit from having alchemy over mining because you'll save a lot of gold my making your own living steel. Still a pretty reliable profit because it's time gated, there shouldn't be too much competition on it, so don't be in too much of a rush to sell these because you have 30 days to move it before you make a second one. I'll often sit on mine for a couple weeks if the price dips too low and wait until I can get an extra 5-10k out of it. There's a popular speculation that these will go up in price after the next expansion like at the beginning of legion as people will want them to farm herbs, so if you want to potentially get more from them you could save up your Jard's.

These mounts are really expensive to make and really slow sellers too. The cost of the 3
is going to be more than double what it takes to get everything else combined, and eating up 60k raw gold for weeks at a time isn't always good, so don't make these if you can't afford to spare the gold for a while. You can only make one of these mounts per engineer depending on whether you go Goblin or Gnomish Engineering. Which specialisation you want to go with will depend on which mount is more profitable and which one has more competition. Choosing the one that is currently more profitable isn't always best, you might want to watch the market on both for a while before choosing and see which one is better to make on your realm. Once you have a second engineer you can start making both mounts, which is a good reason to consider doubling up along with extra Jard's cooldowns.
This one is my best seller for engineering mounts. Which one you make will depend on whether you're Horde or Alliance, but they're pretty much the same, and which one you make just depends on your faction. Note that you need to be horde to use the hog and alliance to use the chopper, so if you're on a realm with a heavy faction imbalance you might have a hard time selling the less popular faction one on the AH. This is a pretty good use of Titansteel, which is a great shuffle to do by itself so it's real profitable if you do that. One thing to keep track of is how much Arctic fur you have, it's usually a pretty inconsequential component in terms of cost, but be sure to stock up on a bunch when you have the opportunity, I've been caught out a few times where I needed to make a chopper and there were either none on the AH or they were listed for an obscene price. If you run out you can also check the leather trader in old dalaran who can trade you 1 for 10 Heavy Borean Leather, quite expensive but it's at least better than not making a chopper at all.
I also like to stock up on multiples of the vendor mats for these at a time because it's fairly cheap and saves the trip going to
(Goblin in Vale who sells mats for these and other crafted mounts) every other day. TSM Vendoring or similar macros/addons help here because buying up 40
takes forever to do manually, if you're also making the other engineering mounts or panthers/Vials (everything except

for VotS) then you can pick up the vendor mats for those too when you visit him.
These 2 are engineering only mounts, which means you have to have engineering to fly them and also to learn them. People generally assume that nobody would buy these because if you have engineering you'd just make them yourself, but these do actually sell on occasion, albeit slowly probably to engineers who are too lazy to make it themselves. The Flying Machine is a very cheap mount, so people often buy it because spending 1-5k to +1 a mount count is easier then going to get all the mats for it. Because it's so cheap it can be a great mount in terms of margins, but is sometimes subject to people crashing the price on them to barley anything, so if you don't like markets where people do that then I'd avoid this one.
Turbo-Charges is a lot more expensive to make, so is more like a traditional mount market where it costs thousands of gold to make and you sell it for a decent profit. These are good to sell if you pay attention to the
market and can smelt

. As long as you don't pay too much for the mats it's quite profitable. Don't fall into the trap of buying the
off the AH, it's 100g (or less with rep) from a vendor in Shattrath.

Being the worst profession this expansion according to
you might not expect a lot of things to do with legion crafts to be profitable but personally I find a lot of stuff to be quite good sellers, and in fact this expansion has given Engineering a lot of useful stuff more than some other expansions.
- This is a market that used to be extremely good, but now is something that's just occasionally profitable if I can find parts to craft them cheap enough. The primary use for making skullblasters these days is to obliterate them and get tons of
out of them. Out of everything in Legion these I'm pretty sure obliterate for the most ash per item, giving a whopping 530 or so ash on average which is huge. The cheapest ones of these to make is usually going to be the leather one, but sometimes mail is cheaper or cloth is if you have a tailor to make the

for cheap enough to make them, which is hard to do because they only drop from the Boon of the Builder shoulder enchant which people don't use very often because the drops are worth barely anything compared to Bloodhunter for example. Probably better if

- The utility items that people use for raiding and dungeons which can be used by anyone, so these will sell decently well and better on realms with a good raiding population. These are decent in terms of profits but can be annoying with the vendor parts required to make them. Exalted with Kirin Tor is recommended for making these because a significant chunk of the crafting cost does come from the vendor parts.
Relics - These relics are surprisingly good sellers (that seems to be a theme here), considering they're item level 805 and about 150 ilvls behind current content, but they still sell for thousands of gold for whatever reason. These are a good use use of

dump for engineering. Useful gadget for hunters that costs a lot of BoS to make so a worthwhile craft if you have the BoS to spare.

, there are some amazing Quality of Life improvements to consider with Engineering too - especially if you're farming to make gold:
Besides all the stuff you can craft with engineering you also get a ton of perks persoanlly for the character that has engineering, so you want to think about which character you want to put engineering on. A good choice would be your main or a character that you like to farm on a lot to get the benifits from all your toys etc.
- Bank access and repair vendor anywhere. This is good for running older raids that are all indoors like Molten Core if you want to loot all the trash and the bosses. Being able to clear up bag space in those situations is nice so you don't have to delete anything or skip looting mobs that might have something good.
- Portable Mailbox. Has some pretty good uses besides saving a few seconds running to a mailbox sometimes. Getting rid of unique items by using the mailbox is a pretty common practice (Eg. Bait from Fishing in legion zones), making it possible to farm unique things somewhat effectively.
Wormhole Generators - Great For getting around the place. There's one for most expansions so if you need to get pretty much anywhere in the world doing it as an engineer should be pretty fast.
- Useful for farms where you just want to stand in one place and hit one button, eg. multibox farms or low effort "AFK" farms done with CKS or by just spamming buttons without needing to put in much effort, can also be used to loot occasional mobs that are out of reach or can generally save a bit of time looting.

It seems like Order Halls are picking up in popularity as the expansion marches on, players are 'finishing' their priority content like raiding and quest lines in all of the Legion zones and turning to leveling alts to explore the class-specific content. This means there are lot of Class Order Halls being operated and they can be fine-tuned to generate a large amount of gold.

WoW offers many ways to make gold. From farming mats to crafting needed items, end even careful buying and selling of materials from the Auction House. Most of those require daily effort and in some cases much luck of the market to get the most out of your effort. This guide offers a different approach.
Your class hall(s) provides a unique opportunity to make gold. With an initial investment of time you can reap great rewards on a an almost daily basis with very little work. Note: There IS the intial investment of time (but not necessarily gold) to start making gold from your class hall(s).
Whether you have just one toon, or better yet many, this guild will walk help you turn your class hall(s) into gold making machines.
If you are planning on making new toon(s) from scratch, I recommend you look at the info I provide on each class as to its pros/cons. If you are working from an existing toon, you may jump ahead to the proper phase of your toon's 'career'.
Please be advised that I am assuming you have a basic understanding of missions and followers. A grasp of threats and counters, follower item levels (ilvl) and equipment is needed to the the most out of this guide. There are many valuable resources on wowhead to get you started on that.
If you don't already have a basic understanding of the missions and how to set up followers for countering them, there was an
incredibly in-depth spreadsheet shared by /u/x3noncson the /r/woweconomy subreddit
this week that details recommend follower setups and equipment-use for every single class. Highly recommend to fine-tune your current setup and track exactly where you need to be if you're just starting out too.
So, based on "Order Hall Optimization by Polarthief/Frozenclaws (updated and still ongoing for 7.3)" spreadsheet, I've made my version of it, with just essential informations. It also allows you to keep track of bis items you still need on each character followers, by simply chaning items color to green/red/yellow(green if you have it, red if you dont, yellow for legendary replacement). Just copy this spreadsheet to your google drive, and fill in colors etc according to your status.
I am not sure how worth is it to share it, since there is Polarthief/Frozenclaws one already, and mine covers their informations, but my friends found it usefull, so here it is, hope it helps someone with his alts army:
Personally I don't play alts to that extent, but since my plans are heading towards utilising all professions in Battle for Azeroth I'm going to be setting up some Order Halls of my own in the coming weeks and months. Hopefully there is still plenty of time to profit from them before any changes or nerfs are implemented similar to the end of Warlords of Draenor when the Garrison gold missions were completely gutted which is almost a certainty.
