WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-Up
Hello! Welcome to the 135th edition of the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up!
My name is
and I am a content creator focusing on making gold using Professions and
. I have a number of guides over on
and I also stream my adventures on
Shadowlands Professions - First Impressions from Beta
I have finally been able to get my hands on Shadowlands Professions and I'd like to take this opportunity to pull together a few thoughts on what I've discovered so far. I also want to caveat this with the fact that this is Beta and things are liable to change or just be placeholders for testing.
- First thing I noticed here is we have an ink trader! We didn't have one in BfA as a method for buying old inks with new expansion ones.
The currency here is
which appears to be the cheaper of the ink from milling herbs, although on my first small sample I got more
from milling. You can mill
at the beginning,
at Inscription level 35. Contracts are currently available at Friendly with each faction, I'm sure this is just for testing at this stage.
The 4 different
for the appropriate type. I'm not sure where these will available from. The interesting one here is the
Card of Death
which uses inks and creates a random card, possibly a wild card.
It will be exciting to see how these decks come together and what kind of market there is for them!
- One interesting note is that Mining and Herbalism result in nuggets and petals at first, which one assumes will be linked to skill level as they each go up to 150. Having items or racial abilities that boost these skill will be particularly useful early on!
This was discussed this week by
with the suggestion of getting the
Gnomish Army Knife
amongst other things
has a very interesting Gem you can create early on, the
Straddling Jewel Doublet
There could well be some interesting markets emerging here for players having different sets of gear, a speed set, a crafting set and so on. All the professions feeding into each other hopefully.
- I was a little worried when I saw the Extraction of herbs into ground versions, but it appears to not be for every Alchemy component, just some of them..
The Potions and Flasks use regular herbs which is a relief.
Barriers to Entry
- This was one area where I had a little concern in that all professions had easy access to all recipes through the trainer. While I rejoice the lack of Ranks and frustrating time-gating. I feel there should be some effort involved in getting to the top end of a profession. If it's too easy, then the race to the bottom is fast and hard.
The Specialized armour does appear to have some sort of rank system yet to be fully implemented, so perhaps this might be an area where those that put in the requirements can reap the rewards.
I will endeavour to report back more as I discover it and really look forward to getting into all aspects of each profession. Overall I'm incredibly excited for professions in Shadowlands, there is a lot of variety there and some interesting combinations.
In addition to this,
has been putting together a comprehensive Miro board detailing what he's found so far with a view to finding suitable farms in the future. I highly recommend keeping an eye on this one as it develops.
Hey guys and gals! Back with a sample page of my 100 Page Goblin and Gnome Gold Guide!
So to break it down this page covers everything Tailoring/Skinning/Leatherworking in shadowlands so far. With crafting materials and alot more hard to explain here link to page
Here's the youtube video on it

Thankyou Komlit for sharing your work. What does everyone thing of Shadowlands professions so far? Are you excited? Will you focus on one or two or try for all of them!
shared the news this week that we all saw coming ..
Official blog post by Blizzard has been posted detailing what is going away in the pre-patch and Shadowlands launch.
As previously mentioned in a dev interview, the
Mighty Caravan Brutosaur
will be unavailable come the pre-patch.
The crucial piece of missing information is
Without this, people are scrambling to make gold any which way they can and hope for the best.
came up with some reasonable estimations ..
What we do know:
Shadowlands release is planned for this year: "World of Warcraft®: Shadowlands expansion available on or before December 31, 2020" (from the store page).
Estimates we can make based on the last couple expansions
There's usually about a month between beta starting and the first pre-patch PTR build.
The pre-patch PTR usually runs alongside the beta for about a month
Past expansion pre-patches were made available about 4-6 weeks before the expansion launch.
the pattern of the previous expansions continues to hold, then we should see the 9.0.x PTR by the end of next month, with the pre-patch releasing as early as late September.
If the pattern doesn't hold, then we're looking at the first week of december as last possible date and that's under the assumption that blizzard would release shadowlands between christmas and new year's.
If you are still working towards your own longboi, don't worry, we as a gold making community are here to help and are happy to share advice and tips such as this
Potential Blacksmithing Vendor Shuffle from u/Funkyformer
This is just a brief PSA on some potential moneymaking routes with vendor flips, depending on your server. With ore prices dropping due to the end-of-expansion blues (at least on my server, US-Malorne), the
may become viable for shuffling. With this recipe, you will start to break even if your Monelite cost is 4.07 for Horde players, or 4.05 for Alliance, not counting rarity procs. It is worth noting that, discounting procs, at these prices you're only making a few silver per item crafted. Additionally, with the T3 recipe the
Honorable Combatant's Spellblade
may also become viable as ore prices drop, though its less likely. With this recipe, you'll begin to break even at a Storm Silver cost of 1.88 for Horde players, or 1.89 for Alliance, once again discounting rarity procs.
If your Monelite is at or below 4.07 Horde or 4.05 Alliance, craft Monel-Hardened Shankers. If your Storm Silver is at or below 1.88 Horde or 1.89 Alliance, craft T3 Honorable Combatant's Spellblades.
Classic Gold Making
has posted a very comprehensive
Step by step Guide on how I make 1.5k/week in Classic WoW
~14k from TSM Sniper
~2k manually finding good deals
~5k from reselling vendor scrolls
What the graph doesn't show (sadly I thought I saved my data and reset TSM because of an issue I had) is Jan-April where I first found out about TSM. It took me about 3 months to go from 10g to 1000g and figuring out my process.
This is where the majority of the gold comes from, basically being AFK and clicking buy if something pops up. It obviously helps to have a second account if you want to actually play the game at the same time. However, if you are doing work, sitting on a conference call or watching a movie it is quite easy. I haven't found much success with the Bid sniper so I stick to Buyout sniper.
is how to set up sniper on classic, and
is for retail. The main difference is retail has an extra 3 0's on the price.
Be quick but pay attention!
Sometimes items show up that are only marginally good. Don't feel you have to buy everything that pops up
Hover over the item icon and find the Regional Market Value Avg
Compare this to the Buyout price
Check to see how many of these items you already have in stock
I try to keep 3 max unless they sell quickly
Make a macro to buy items quickly
Macro: /click TSMSniperBtn
This is not the TSM macro, but rather one made in game
Bind it to mouse4 or something easily accessible * Click the item once, then click the button assigned to the macro. This way you don't have to move your mouse all the way down to the Buyout button. One second can be the difference between buying a Freezing band at 32g and missing out (See sniper pic above)!
The article makes for a very interesting read and is refreshing to see tales from Classic and how the market is thriving there.
