WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-Up
Hello! Welcome to the 160th edition of the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up!
My name is
Samadan
and I am a content creator focusing on making gold using Professions and
TSM
. I have a number of guides over on
YouTube
and I also stream my adventures on
Twitch
.
Welcome
Welcome to another week of gold making news and updates. It seems to be a bit of a theme now, but
Eternal Crystals
have dropped heavily in price once again. LFR wings are opening, more people are getting Epic items in their weekly rewards and the price is dropping rapidly sub 1,000g finally.

theunderminejournal.com
This means a lot of enchants may now be at a more reasonable and competitive price on your server. Check especially on reset day to find some bargains and good sellers.
Interestingly, compare this with
Chaos Crystals
over the life of the Legion expansion ...

At some point they will level out depending on the availability of epic items to disenchant vs. the demand for enchants.
Legendary Crafting Spreadsheet & Addon
u/Reckish
aka
WTBGold
has shared a really nice
spreadsheet
to help with calculating the price and restock mats needed for the various ranks of Legendary Base Items..
Hey guys. I haven't found a legendary crafting spreadsheet that did exactly what I wanted so I made one.
WTBGold Shadowlands Legendary Spreadsheet.
Ideas for expanding- 1) include list of required mats, 2) some kind of tsm-style queue you can work through rather than just a table, 3) more user-friendly ranking of what-to-level-next. If you have any comments, suggestions, or if there's anything you're struggling with in your own legendary crafting ventures, let me know. <3
Edit 1/13: Added Mat list, gathering preferences, and upgraded queue and I'm super duper proud of this now.
As you can see, it's a great looking spreadsheet and in a similar vein to ones previously created by
Manthieus
and
TheLazyGoldmaker
. This one by WTBGold makes use of the addon
Legendary Stock Tracker
.
Legendary Stock Tracker is an addon that helps you keep track of your current stock in shadowlands crafted base legendary items.
When opening your bags, bank, mailbox, or auction house this addon will scan for all the items you have and keep track of them.
When pressing the LST minimap icon or running /lstock, the addon will filter all base legendary items (rank1-4) and list them in a csv format in a text window.
While you can already quickly see your stock inside this window, for the best overview you can copy this text into your favorite spreadsheet.
u/stroeckx
the author of the addon has
a handy Reddit thread
going through the explanation of how it works.
These combined should help you keep track of how much everything is costing you and what you need to restock. The legendary base market is an expensive one to get into, but one that has shown some great results for some.
DBMinBuyout, why TSM doesn't use it
Following on from
u/Sygon_Paul's
incredibly in-depth explanations of using TSM for craft and how to value materials -
Part 1
and
Part 2
. This week covers a snippet from
Part 3
and talks about
DBMinBuyout
and what to watch out for when using it..
For those of you who are wondering why TSM doesn't use the "cheapest" cheap price variable in the Default Material Cost Method, it is by design. GumdropsEU on
Twitter
wrote an eight page explanation that can be summed up as "you cannot guarantee that price",
especially before
you go shopping for materials.
If you type the command
!matcost
into the
#support
channel in Discord, you get the following, which adds to what GumdropsEU said on Twitter.
TSM does not reference
dbminbuyout
by default, and it's not recommended to do so. You are not in a contract with a supplier to obtain all materials at the same price, and the lowest buyout is only representing the individual cheapest auction
as of the last price snapshot,
which may be old. Any reasonable craft, or crafting queue, needs more than one material, so what happens if the next auction is 10x more expensive?
You will always have to compromise somewhere between what you could pay, which is the market value, or what you have paid, based on your accounting data.
We addressed working around this in parts 1 and 2. No matter what you do, you should read what GumdropsEU wrote on Twitter. It's very important! A further note about last price snapshot is not only could it be old, if you use
dbminbuyout
in the DMCM you could be seeing auctions that do not exist by the time you go shopping, among other serious issues.
This is well worth noting, the value fluctuates a lot and is useful to see as part of the overall picture, but not to be taken in isolation. Part 3 continues to talk of other things such as sources and the order in which to use them, so I highly recommend checking our the
full thread here.
Solo Skinning in Maldraxxus & Revendreth
u/WibaTalks
continues their solo skinning threads and this week, we have the last 2 zones
Maldraxxus
and
Revendreth
..
Maldraxxus
Hey guys! I'm back with a Skinning route that was proven(science) today to yeild most gold in Maldraxxus. SOLO.My requirements are easy. It has to be easy route to remember, yeild worthwhile gold, and solo!
This route is filled with other people doing herbs, but rarely anyone touches the mobs, so it's fine. At least you have company, kinda. :)
I made 40k+ gold in one hour in the video, was really unlucky I think, my test runs got me 50k+.I provide 2 other optional places to skin, if the main place is overrun. They are not as good, but at least there is something if u want to skin in maldraxxus for some reason.
Tip for this location, bonetooth have really short aggro range, this means you can't pull as many mobs as u want here. But since there are mobs everywhere, you still get around 2100 looted items per hour, which was 50k+ in other zones as well.Tip2, you want to be a class that can pull from the sky, or your gold per hour drops dramatically.(This farm was done with region avg minimum buyout. Just to even in out, since my server is the cheapest and yours might not be).
In the video I explain numbers a bit more in detail.

Hopefully this was helpful! Last part of the series coming soon! I will link all the previous videos in the next one, so it's easy to find which are the best spots currently in each zone. :)
Revendreth
Revendreth is really simple zone, there is not much need for "finding" the best place for skinning, there are only two really. Just like before, we are finding the BEST spot for solo farming, and it has to be simple and good gold per hour(items looted per hour). As usual, we found what we wanted!
As crazy it sounds, every zone is similar with items looted per hour(2000~ per hour), only give or take hundred or so. Which basically means they are all close to equal. Some zones are more flexible though. For example if there are ppl in these 2 spots in revendreth, that's it. No more skinning there. Most flexible zones are easily Bastion and Ardenweald. Both zones have tons of alternative locations(not quite as good or easy routes, but still possibilities to farm).
Here I have map and the video about the locations in Revendreth. I also have one extra spot for people in need.
Here is the map:
https://i.imgur.com/hYE6nRW.png
And here is the video:
https://youtu.be/nNLU06je1v8
As said above, there are very few spots in Revendreth, but luckily there is no one there, ever. I didn't see a single soul passing by during my testing. Felt like dead server, even though Kazzak is one of the highest pop servers in EU. Could it mean that competition might never arrive?
Once again guys, the support has been massive, thank you so much. Not sure what will be my next video, but I'm pumped to make a new one after all this. <3
These have been really useful guides, so thankyou WibaTalks for sharing them. Skinning is a fun way to explore zone while making gold at the same time! Please share any spots you find in the comments below!
Old World Sellers & Mats
u/Tuazo
poses a very interesting question regarding old world items that are still selling in Shadowlands ...
I still have a handful of 'Old World' items which I create and still sell well for me:
Enchant Weapon: Crusader
Enchant Neck: Mark of the Hidden Satyr
Angerhide Leg Armor
Glyph of Lavish Servings
Greater Crane/Ox/Tiger Inscription (MoP Shoulder Enchants)
Field Repair Bot 74A
Eternal Belt Buckle
What are some other 'Old World' items that you are making and sell well? I know Bear Tartre sells well on some servers but is currently worthless (18 silver) on mine and Goblin Gliders sell too cheap. I have an army of alts so I have all the professions covered, but not all the expansions covered. However, I do not have an issue of learning/leveling the profession, especially given how cheap some of the mats are on the AH.
There were some great additional suggestions in the thread too ...
Goblin Gliders
Shadoweave Mask
Ghost Iron
Sky Golem
The WoD engineering multiknife thingy
Flying Carpets
Windwool bandages
Ive been trying to get VoS. Im ~20 hrs into the grind and now do it on and off
Reliable Sellers:
MoP Shoulder Enchants that you mentioned
Hexweave Bag
Certain glyphs - anything that changes druid forms, Glyph of Stars, a few others
Mecha-Bond Imprint Matrix
Tuxedo set - big bonus if you're on an RP server and can time your listings with RP weddings/events
Takes a little longer to sell:
Most glyphs
Titansteel bars
Arcanite bars
Crafted transmog i.e. Ghost Iron Staff, Key to the Planes
Potion of Treasure Finding
Various Tomes of Illusion
As the lists show, there is a lot of diversity in markets and it's never too late to level an old profession!
Further to this,
Studen Albatroz has a video
going through old world farms for materials that are well worth looking into and the supply and demand of these changes drastically as many focus on current content..
Novice Crafters Marks
Something I have been doing myself with some good success the past few weeks is using
Novice Crafters Marks
on the base items for each of the armour profession to make full sets available to fresh level 50 characters. A lot of the basic gear cannot be worn until later levels and it's a shame new characters have limited options. This way, they can pick up a full set of ilevel 87 gear ready to get started in Shadowlands.
These have to be crafted manually, TSM doesn't yet have an option to craft using optional reagents which could explain why there are so few on the market. I have been able to put a healthy markup of 500-1,000g on these and they are still selling.
Check your server and see what works for you!
