Thrill of the Hunt's description does not mention the pet at all, so how is it bugged? What the article totally neglected was the fact that tenacity pets lost their AOE attack so you might draw mobs off your pet with multishot. The fact that exotic pets can now only be tamed once you reach lvl 68 up from lvl 10 was not realized either. Basically, all the exotic pets distributed over the Old World are not useable at the lvl you encounter them for the first time.
Great review, I was honestly really interested in the opinion on the first talent tier. I must say it certainly feels that BM has more of a rotation than it had in legion. Where as in Legion it felt like there was more dead-time doing just auto attacks. The fact that exotic pets can now only be tamed once you reach lvl 68 up from lvl 10 was not realized either. Basically, all the exotic pets distributed over the Old World are not useable.Oh that is a big change for new players levelling!
How could you put Hati on the main picture WoWhead? So cruel.
Good riddance, Hati
Personaly I think that Animal Companion talent should have been turned into a baseline passive for BM hunter.
Thrill of the Hunt's description does not mention the pet at all, so how is it bugged?\r\rYour pet directly gains your main and secondary stats stats, so it should be buffing your pet through you.
I still wonder if we need to stack lots of mastery for our pets to even have high dps like we needed in legion
I personally hate the feeling of having to wait on a GCD to hit Kill Command after Bestial Wrath. :(
This article needs to address the fact that our pets are now once again dumb as absolute bricks. They won't follow you properly even on flat surfaces with no LoS issues. They certainly won't follow you properly going up or down stairs. I've even had them despawn just getting into position on Aggramar, because the pet literally didn't move from the after the bridge where we ress, to the spot over to the left of the boss. All in all, we're back to moron level pets due to the ongoing uncaring BS attitude from Blizz where BM is concerned.
I genuinely don't understand why more people aren't talking about the loss of our glorious zoo build. With 2 pets, Dire Beast, and the Glyph of Dire Stable, BM hunters were able to see our pets more than ever before. You could have a pair of your favourite pets, and then a stable filled with hand-selected, well loved pets, and be calling them out so often with Dire Beast, you'd see them all the time. It meant seeing the dinosaur I'd never have out as a main pet but I did put a ton of effort into getting regularly enough to make that effort feel worthwhile. It meant I could put Loque'nahak in my stable and still see him regularly enough to remember that my first love is always close by. BFA has killed that. I never liked Dire Frenzy, and I don't love Barbed Shot either. I'm a beast mastery hunter. I want to be master of beasts, damnit!
I would mention for Recommended Changes and Issues, that the spell "Command Pet" is still not working, and I don't know about the other abilities but when I turn off auto attack for Spirit Walk on my spirit beast, each time I log in again it's turned on again... really annoying.

I want to be master of beasts, damnit!\rI very much agree with you on all points and would like to add when using Barbed shot, more often than not, stomp goes off no where near a mob! Unlike dire beast that went exactly where I wanted it. Stacking Barbed shot and it's lame DoT is near useless open world where mobs die too quickly as well.
Love how some people commenting on here think it's the job of people posting this to recommend changes to Blizzard as if Blizzard actually listens to them anymore than anyone else.
I never liked Dire Frenzy, and I don't love Barbed Shot either. I'm a beast mastery hunter. I want to be master of beasts, damnit!\r\rSame here. DF being a core component of the spec rather than an option is really disappointing to me, it's now all about maintaining stacks of an 8 sec buff, exactly the sort of thing that feels unappealing micromanaging and restrictive to me.\r\rThematically stampede should be our iconic major cd but it's seldom taken. Barrage is once again (and by design) unimpressive. So it's stomp, a passive baked into, yes, barbed shot (aka DF).\r\rKiller cobra is much more engaging than aspect of the beast but we're being pushed the way of AotB (at present) and the synergies with 3 stacks of DF \/ Barbed shot are obviously strong so, it's yeah, a passive.\r\rIt's not just that it feels like there is an obvious way to play but that the design really yields only one way to play. And that's a style I don't care for much.
In my opinion, those using the double-pet talent, if they have the "Essence Swapper" should be able to swap the appearance of their second pet to Hati. I mean, that item was created to change Hati's appearance in the first place. Why not recycle it since it's now completely useless? It would give a 2nd life to Hati...? \r\rI already opened a suggestion to Blizzard about it but those who think like me, please feel free to make one as well. \r\rOr maybe (that was not in my last suggestion but...) having the Essence Swapper absorb Hati from the artifact weapon so we can use the Essence Swapper to replace our pet's current appearance to Hati? \r\rThose are just ideas of course...
\rThe fact that exotic pets can now only be tamed once you reach lvl 68 up from lvl 10 was not realized either. Basically, all the exotic pets distributed over the Old World are not useable at the lvl you encounter them for the first time.\r\rI tamed both Arcturis, the ghost bear in grizzly hills, and Loq in sholazar basin at level 63 and level 64 respectively. This was last week so maybe something has been fixed since you tried?
I never liked Dire Frenzy, and I don't love Barbed Shot either. I'm a beast mastery hunter. I want to be master of beasts, damnit!\r\rSame here. \r\rHere I am on the other side of the fence - I hated being stuck with a second pet and shooting animals out of my gun \/ bow. To me, Beastmaster is not a zookeeper but a hunter with a single ferocious companion. Legion's build with main pet + Hati + all the random beasts seemed like hunter skin peeled onto a demo warlock. \r\rAt the same time, though, I think that playstyle should have been preserved with 1 Hunter, 1 Pet, no clutter being the other choice, close in numbers.
I'm kinda wondering: What's with all these opinion pieces on every single spec? I thought that Wowhead was based on "dataz"? And opinion is not fact...\r\rI know: I'm not obligated to read them (and I don't). Just wondering. They are cluttering up the front page anyhow.
... in short. We have a 3 button rotation where all the buttons are stuck on GCD.

Basically, all the exotic pets distributed over the Old World are not useable at the lvl you encounter them for the first time.\r\r1. We believe Thrill is bugged because in almost all cases, something buffing the Hunter applies to both Hunter and Pet, especially since about 2\/3 of our damage is pet-based. Also, if you dig into the spell details of the buff itself (Охотничий азарт), it is attempting to increase the crit chance of pet abilities like Kill Command and Stomp, but since the Thrill buff is not applied to the pet, any of these attacks that come from the pet never benefit from it. Aspect of the Wild had a similar bug in early beta where it did not increase pet crit, but then they applied the buff to the pet and it worked. If Thrill was fixed like this it would become a competitive talent. If it is intended to only increase Hunter crit, it needs a pretty significant buff to be worth it. \r\r2. The loss of Thunderstomp isn't that big of a deal IMO since pet auto attack and basic attack damage is increased. There's definitely a chance you could pull some aggro on your first Multi-Shot, but your pet's Beast Cleave will generate a lot more threat than Multi-Shot after a couple of seconds. Misdirection combined with Barrage is a good combination to use after rounding up a bunch of mobs in the world. Barrage may be a bit awkward in dungeons and raids, but at least it can get a lot of use elsewhere.\r\r3. The Exotic Beasts passive being changed definitely makes no sense. I've sent in this feedback and I'd encourage others to do the same. There's a lot of other inconsistencies with pet abilities and at what levels they unlock.
