When I went to Blizzcon three years ago, there were no bag checks whatsoever and there was no one even checking badges upon entering. I was pretty shocked but I'm glad to see they're using safety precautions this year.
Just to warn the moderators, on the official forums, this turned into quite the political topic until it was locked. So, you may want to keep an eye around here or it could turn ugly.
It's really nice to see people can enjoy themselves without worry. Especially since shootings are only gonna get even more common.

We all know video gamers had the outcast thing for many times, especially with Republicans in the 80s up till the 2000s or so and Democrats in more recent times. The one group that was never really addressed though is the Ernst Cline true pure hardcore PC gamer, mainly because their role had been basically to interface between video game people and those other groups. In other words, they were the ones yelling oh no we can't have RealID we can't have this because the republicans or dems will get you etc etc. The problem though now? It's basically them... they're the ones still piping in the threats and hostility, the democrats and republicans and common plebian man may still be there but this is entirely an internal issue for the most part at this point. So yeah, this has nothing to do with security against random jock jerk number 271, this was definitely gamer culture itself staging a last desperate attempt to paint some nebulous outside party as the primary villain in order to intimidate video game as well as culture in general, which, to me, is quite villainous in and of itself. There's a changing of the guard, we all knew it was coming with the 2011\/2012 era and gamergate and all that, I'm sorta surprised they lasted this long honestly.

Everything about this weird rant makes zero sense. Security got increased following the shooting at the Madden tournament down in Florida.

I don't know what entrance you went in 3 years ago, but there were definitely bag checks in 2015.
All as expected.

With all the controversy surrounding Battle for Azeroth I'm not at all surprised that they are beefing up security this year, better safe then sorry.
Makes sense they would need more security. With the number of people who would pay to get in Ion's face in person, they need more security to make sure he doesn't get beat up! Considering Ion is to WoW what Trump is to the US and considering the current political and violent climate, it's not surprising they think something might happen. Blizzard CMs and Devs have been insanely rude to the player base in recent times and all it takes is one guy to go over the edge and be fed up with how he and the community are being treated.Hey Blizzard, you wouldn't have to worry about it if you didn't constantly disrespect your player base!

Good grief... I honestly have to assume (read: hope) a good amount of these comments are 100% satirical trolling...Edit- EndlessHatred created his account earlier today just to comment on this thread.

You think there isn't a chance some crazy angry dude who's been treated like crap might pull the same #$%^ we've seen on the news recently? Trump encourages this stuff, and it's happening more and more often.\r\rFor the Ion thing? With how condescending and insulting he is, and how a lot of players take games too seriously? You think it doesn't cause security concerns?\r\rHell I'd pay money just to get in the ring with him and lawfully get to beat the holy crap out of him in a boxing match. Lawfully. In a boxing match. You read this part, right? Before you accuse me of inciting violence or threatening or something else equally ridiculous? A boxing match. A lawful boxing match. Lawful. Hell, even with all this you probably don't get it still. LAWFUL BOXING MATCH. I repeat. Lawful. Boxing. Match. Is your limited brain capable of comprehending this now?\r\rSo yes, more security is needed. And it's made worst by how the community is treated. HeelsvsBabyface made a very good video about it all, actually. And he's less abrasive than me.

Just throwing this out there for all you people thinking the Security is due to Blizz's choices and what not... This is the EXACT SAME SECURITY PROTOCAL PAX East had earlier this year. It's nothing really new. Get a grip on yourselves people. I mean really...
