So as a Ret Paladin my thoughts on this goes into "Ultimate Retribution" and how it would work in PvE/raids. Also that being said, what would different ranks of this essence do/look like? Buff the talent? Have a strong minor or a proc attached on the major? Given Ultimate Retribution's ability to proc wings at when friendlies hit lower HP you can bet this will occur almost as often if not more than the Perfection procs because tanks will fall to lower hp levels often even though they will take the debuff to prevent you from getting another proc shortly after off of them. In addition to how Redemption does not count as a battle rez would this mean that a Ret Paladin could operate as a rez bot in raids outside of the Brez restrictions?
I cannot possibly imagine that they would be stupid enough to allow PvP talents inside instanced PvE, but the way the developer worded it, that might be the case. This is a horrible idea. Not only are there a number of talents that would be insane to use in PvE content, so many of them are buggy and highly exploitable. There's a ret paladin PvP talent bug I've reported a dozen times that can put anyone or anything of your choosing within ~100 yards, regardless of LoS, in combat with you. It's gamebreaking in arena (but so few folks seem like they've figured it out yet even though it's hilariously easy to reproduce), and I've already been able to cause some weird behaviors by pulling things miles away in the open world while testing it. You could very easily be able to pull bosses in dungeons, or even just trash packs, from anywhere you want.Even if we assume that every PvP talent works exactly as intended (they don't, and I can continue with a list of unexpected behaviors for at least one talent across most specs, but the ret one stands out to me the most), some of them just are straight up broken in PvE content. The Taunt one that people are discrediting refreshes on Auto-attacks. It wouldn't "DR taunt". You use it once at the start of the fight, and unless you can't auto-attack the boss, your entire raid now has a 15% damage boost on the boss for the remainder of the fight. Having a designated tank-spec'd DPS in a raid who exists just to Damage-amp taunt and then afk is not out of the question. There are plenty of other cases of problematic design (Nourish, Archangels, all percentage-based abilities despite their existing cap, Rot and Decay...) abilities that only make sense in the world of PvP but would completely degrade the experience in an instanced environment. We could argue that a handful of these abilities should return to the base class via talents, passives, or just baseline, but the idea of giving flexibility to choose even one PvP talent to take into PvE would be so disruptive we'd be swamped with hotfixes nerfing every PvP talent in PvE for weeks. They'd be opening a pandora's box even more disruptive than Symbiosis was.And none of that is even touching the fact that every time PvEers have to step foot into PvP even briefly they lose their minds despite that it's the treatment PvPers have had to endure so many times before and especially right now with Crucible gear. As much as I want to be spiteful and see this implemented just to make it even, I know that's not a good reason for such a change and the ill effects that would come from this essence are just not worth the hassle.Fingers crossed that something was horribly misunderstood because otherwise this expansion is even more of a joke - and we haven't even reached the punchline.
I want to doubt they'd be dumb enough to make an essence that'd require raiders to PvP but this is Blizzard after all.
Dracarys.
I'd like for PvP talents in general to be gotten rid of. So stupid that you are only allowed to play 3/4 of your class unless you're flagged for PvP.
Wait a second .. Decomposing Aura / Necrotic Aura
Imagine using greater Pyroblast on bosses :O
Greater Pyroblast,Shaman Totems,DarkArhangel,DK auras,Chaos Bolt damage..... HUUUUUH?Your imagination is so WEAK. Take this Mana Rift
No way this will happen in raid or dungeons. It'll be an open world thing (and even, for world bosses, it's unbalanced). Too many PVP talents are % based, which works against players whose life pools are kind of the same, and are low enough for a 8% max health hit to accounts for an acceptable amount of damage. You can't hit a raid boss for 8% of his/her max health. Bring 13 havoc DH casting Mana Rift in order to get rid of any raid boss in 2.5 seconds.
just greater pyro the boss down 35% HP each time
Since we're making baseless assumptions and intentionally misreading how basic PvP/PvE game mechanics work... I think it's offensive that in order to be competitive in 8.2 I have to register with the Republican Party and speak fluent German. I also can't believe Blizzard upped the subscription fee to $45/month on the SAME DAY that Classic Beta went up. I also don't appreciate NASA beaming mind control radio signals into my dental fillings.
