Oh such a wonderful guide, I'm going to start this tomorrow! P.s, what kind of fish is obtained from the toy? Current BFA fish? Or just all kinds?
This doesnt really seem fun or engaging. It seems like a decent puzzle/riddle... but... fly all over the world and wait for rng to favor you? Yep, sounds like BFA to me. Even more so sounds like patch 8.2. I was really hoping fishing would get some love this patch, after getting virtually none during all of 8.1. This, in stark contrast to the relatively epic story line in legion for the artifact pole. Shrug. Maybe it's just me.
You can also catch the Bottom Feeding Stinkfish at the same location as the Sludge-fouled Carp.
Solarsprocket and Bolted are 'anywhere' fish, or at least close to anywhere in the zone. The coast one is only Energized Lightning Cod.It's also worth noting that you can loot two rare fish at the same time if you're really lucky (or have 200 fishing? Not sure if that was a factor :P)
Does anyone know what type of fish you can get from the toy? And does it change based on zone?
It lets you fish anywhere (even indoors) and contains all fish in the game.
Sooo exciting! Love fishing & love finding secret things in game! This guide will be super helpful! Thanks again to all of you who take the time to create these guides!
I like to see how fishing becomes more attractive and engaging!
I love it! I feel like it should be one of those toys that you can use right after it disappears. Since its pretty harmless and schools of fish don't spawn on it.
as someone who's got everything but the Displaced Scrapfin, a few pointers to help out others:The Thin Air Flounder was bugged for me - there were 2 fish bubbles visible that were not clickable. and after spending ~2 hours farming other bubbles on top of that mountain someone else came along and suggested deleting all other rare fish in my bag - i did and was immediately able to click on one of the previously unclickable bubbles, that rewarded a guaranteed Thin Air Flounder.I was having poor luck with the Elusive Moonfish, but someone else suggested the Tol Barad pvp swamp area (same place as the Prisoner Fish), so I went there around 4:30 AM server time and was able to get it after a few minutes of farming. Everything else was caught right about where this guide suggests. Good luck to anyone else going after this achievement!
I finished this literally 5 minutes before this was posted. Pro tip: If you haven't done the copper/siler/gold coin cheeves in old Dalaran, the goggles work for them. Programmatically, it looks like they took the goggles and used them as a means of 'land' fishing. Your casting rate is a bit randomized. Your range is about 40 yards. The bubble seems to use the standard fishing timer. When you hear the 'bubble' sound, it's not the bubble appearing on the map. It's actually an existing bubble disappearing. It's just like the bobber sound in normal fishing where you have about 3 seconds after you hear the sound to click the bobber. In this case, when you hear the bubble sound, you have a couple seconds to click the bubble before it gets recast to another location. The whole thing is a neat re-implementation of the existing fishing code library.
A small correction, the coastal fishes CAN be fished anywhere in Mechagon, including ponds and lakes. Got the Bolted Steelhead at the same place I fished for the Pond Hopping Springfish.People will likely want to leave those fished for last, in case any of them is caught while fishing the rest.
Already finished this, the Hyper Compressed ocean stays out for 15 minutes, has a 1 hour cooldown, and the fish that you get match the zone you place it in. You cannot fish from it while in a party, and after a while you will need to relog as it stops you from fishing from it after about 7 or 8 minutes(most likely to deter botters).
Anglers: Three fish for 1050 rep (350 per fish).Rustbolt: Ten fish for 250 rep (25 per fish).
Thank you for this guide! I've tried this out (someone had it in world) and it's NEAT!
