Battle for Azeroth, Blacksmithing gear focuses on max-level PvE epics and full PvP sets.A belt and legs that with a lucky titanforge are rendered useless as you are likely farming that content anyway. And 370 gear that isn't as good as WQ items and even a fresh 120 can get benthic gear set in less than a day.
I think the biggest change going from BFA to Classic is the stack sizes, very important for the gathering professions. Herbs only stack to 20, ore only to 10 (bars stack to 20), and skins / hides to 20 (if I remember correctly). Perhaps not directly profession related but definitely something to take into account, as your bags will be full very very fast in Classic.
You have to do a questline in Tanaris to unlock Artisan rank of crafting profs. I think it might require level 40 too but that could have been a suggestion. It's been a long time.
Also (Overall): reagents in the bank do NOT count when crafting; you need to have all needed reagents in your bags! You might want to add this in your post.
I wouldn't say the relearning is really a difference since you can't relearn Classic level recipes in BFA anyhow
I have toyed with the idea of playing classic off and on, because i really am nostalgic for the days when WoW was new to me and everything i did there felt EPIC. I have toyed with NOT playing because i understand that a lot of that love and feeling of EPIC .... was because it WAS all so new, fresh, exciting and indescribable to those who hadn't done it. Am actually a BC baby but quite a lot of the same challenges still existed then. But the thing that should possibly make me consider NOT playing, ie: how very difficult all of the professions were (as just one example) Man it makes me WANT to play! I really do miss all of the side things in WoW actually mattering. And professions REALLY did matter.I feel myself being sucked in.
All this focus on PvE professions, engineering is practically MANDATORY for any pvp. Explosives wreck.
Leatherworking.... I was (un)lucky enough to get the Shifting Cloak pattern for elemental LW from Dire Maul really early on... which subsequently made me live in Scholomance farming 1 Skin of Shadow per run since the cloak needed 4 of them to make. :'(
Terrible downgrades from retail, vanilla will not live long.
Wasn't there stat bonuses to gathering professions? Like agility from skinning, Strength from mining, etc?
