Leave classic alone, you guys are exhausting.
A race normally implies other participants! I have no problem with Method doing this. Just please stop trying to ram it down my throat! The “world first” has always felt obnoxious and fake to me. And this is worse! Play how you want method just stop expecting us all to suckle on your teats whistle you do it!
WTF for? The achievement system didn't exist in vanilla, which is when any technical 'world firsts' in classic occurred. Why make such a big deal about glorifying people skipping over content the developers have spent so long crafting, just to claim they were the first to do something (that's already been done)? Oh wait, silly me... corporate profits (for the sponsors paying to televise this supposed "race"). *eyeroll*
Are they playing on the low population realms?Otherwise there might be queue times to contend with.
Quite simply, who cares!
"The journey is more important than the destination" been ruined for while with world first races and these is meh boring do a race.
Nobody cares.World firsts were done 15 years ago.
It will be exhausting for them to push through the content that fast, and collecting everything they need to go on a fresh server. I'm interested in checking in just to see the emotional toll it takes on them, as individuals and as friends. Peer pressure is one thing, the pressure of cameras is something else entirely. I don't care about modern WoW's World First races and have never poked my head into anyone's raiding streams before - and I'm sure there will be a lot of viewers tuning into this sort of thing for the first time just like me. It'd be even more entertaining if they'd be going in blind without recent practice and experience from private servers.
Do they know that Classic race to world first finished 15 years ago?
Unless they have a time machine taking them all back 15 years to get the World First 60/MC, this race isn't even for the World Millionth 60/MC. There is no kudos in winning this race, as it in no way, shape or form competes against those that did it 15 years ago. You can try and argue otherwise but you'd be completely wrong. Classic may be set at 1.12 and that's fine, but everything else...that's EVERYTHING else has completely changed. Computer hardware, operating systems, network capabilities & reliability, peripherals such as mice & keyboards, even voice com hardware & software has come along in leaps and bounds. In fact Classic 1.12 must be very different to Vanilla 1.12 as well, otherwise the recommended PC specs would be along the lines of an AMD Athlon 64 system from 2004 lol.On top of that you have to factor in that pretty much everything to do with Vanilla WoW has been dissected and gone over with a fine tooth comb in the last 15 years. Here on Wowhead there's guide after guide after guide covering almost everything in Classic. What exactly is it about this race that constitutes "World First" status? If something's been done before you cannot rightly call it a first. Is this race coming up against anything unknown at all, either in the levelling process or end game raids? Have the boss mechanics been redone so that strategies and team compositions that worked 15 years ago no longer apply? In before the "Why do you care/How does it affect you" calls, I'd answer everyone should care. By trying to claim something as a World First that has been done many times before, you are instantly disrespecting those that actually did it. Should we have new races to the North & South Poles and call them World Firsts, effectively rewriting history? What would be the reaction if someone reaching the peak of Everest this weekend claimed it as a World First. In an age of fake news and alternate facts EVERYONE should care when someone or some organisation tries it on, otherwise you are contributing to the problem. Truth, facts & history matter people and those that put in the original time & effort using earlier tech and less information should be respected for what they did.
Method is late to the party, World First happened more than a decade ago.
I stopped following Method after they turned into an greedy money making organisation that keep saying we are doing it for the community... But gl to them and all the people that turn in to relive their fond memories through them.
